We have worked hard on the current solution to the High Stakes game, it will be our pleasure to show just a little of our thinking and more clever designs. This is our V4 robot, the fourth one we have made for high stakes, getting to this point has been building off the previous versions and improving them as we learn what works and what doesn't. It's painted red like the red imperial guards from Star Wars for 66% more style points.
This part is the most important part, if it breaks in a match we can't score points. Our V4 drive train is the lightest we have built so far, while still being durable and fast.
To score rings we first need to pick them up, that's why our intake has been designed and redesigned ensuring peak performance. We use a set of rubber wheels that spin on top of the rings, pulling them into the robot up a ramp, ready to be received by our hooks.
We use custom-designed laser-cut parts to give just enough flex to score the rings consistently. These hooks serve an important part of scoring rings onto goals, moving them from the intake up onto the goal.
Sometimes our super intake can pick up rings that we don't want, we use an optical sensor to detect the ring's color, then eject the rings we don't want by stopping the hooks at just the right moment.
Picking up goals is key to victory, ours is simple and effective. It pushes down on the outside to lock it in place while we are driving allowing us to score rings onto the goal.
We use a clever mechanism to score rings onto the higher wall stakes. Rings are first picked up and sent to the top using our existing hooks conveyor. But an arm intercepts it and brings the ring even higher to be scored onto the wall stake. This system is the best we have found because its fast, simple, and out of the way of other parts of the robot.
We use a fast robot because it is our solution to outplaying our opponents. We can take advantage of blunders from our opponents to win the match by acting quickly on their mistakes. The faster the better, our driver is also an FPV drone pilot and RC vehicle hobbyist giving him an edge in controlling our fast robot.
